Call for Artists: Help Transform HSC Children’s Hospital

We’re sharing a paid opportunity for artists to contribute to a meaningful new pilot project at HSC Children’s Hospital in Winnipeg.

Artists are invited to submit work for consideration to help reimagine spaces in CK5, the childhood cancer, blood disorders, and transplants ward. Artwork selected through this call will help bring comfort, imagination, and a sense of playfulness to children and families during long hospital stays.

About the project

An art committee will select up to 20 artists to create nature-themed, child-friendly artwork for patient rooms. The goal is to help children stay connected to joy, creativity, and a sense of calm while receiving care.

Many young patients spend weeks or months in CK5 while undergoing treatment. Hospital rooms become second homes, and this pilot project aims to make those spaces warmer, brighter, and more hopeful.

This initiative is part of a larger effort by the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba to renew over 70 in-patient rooms across Manitoba’s only Children’s Hospital, one of the oldest children’s hospitals in Canada.

Selected artists will receive compensation for their work.
