CraftED: YARN IS IN MY DNA rug tufting with Maureen Winnicki Lyons

  Workshop Description:
Wield a yarn-spitting machine-gun to tuft a small rug or wall tapestry with Maureen. Inspired by Serious Play, YARN IS IN MY DNA is a six-hour experience in beginner rug-tufting. Suitable for ages 14 and up. Participants will arrive to find tufting frames dressed and ready, accompanied by individual tufting guns and other tools for use in class, as well as all the yarn necessary to create a design of their own creation measuring around 60cm round or square. Rugs will be collected and finished at WOOL MOUNTAIN to accommodate the curing of adhesive, with pickup available by appointment OR returned to C2 Centre for Craft later that week as per participant preference. Design advice will be available in advance to facilitate a smooth experience for the workshop day.  
          
  About the Instructor: Maureen rages (quietly) against the machine using handcrafted art to save the world with wool. As an interdisciplinary artist for 25+ years, Maureen values the versatility with which wool can be shaped to fit every vision: felted, hooked, punched, tufted, spun or woven. Find her amid a collection of 200+ breeds of wool at WOOL MOUNTAIN at ARTlington Studios in Winnipeg    Accessibility Information about the space: 329 Cumberland has wheelchair access around the right side of the building.
