Log Cabin Quilt-Along

It’s summertime… let’s go to the cabin!

You are invited to join us for a summertime quilt-along!

  • Are you looking for a fun and easy project to keep you busy over the summer months?
  • Are you new to quilting and wondering how to get started?
  • Do you have some fabric or clothing that you are longing to use but not sure what to do with it?

This quilt-along may be just for you.

Over the months of July and August we will meet via Zoom to learn all about the quintessential quilt block, the log cabin. Using the basic concept of this block, we will explore the many ways it can be used to create beautiful and unique quilty things – from mug rugs to table runners to bed quilts and everything in between. We will learn about both traditional and contemporary approaches to quilt-making, using hand and/or machine stitching. We will share our love of making, and cheer each other on as we delve into this ‘everything old is new again’ craft form.

How does it work?

Participants who sign up will initially receive a list of suggested materials and supplies, links to useful resources, and basic instructions to get you started.

There’s no need to purchase a special pattern or yards of fabric. You can use what you have, whether it’s scraps from an old sewing project, or old clothing that you can’t wear anymore but could be repurposed. How much material you need will depend on the size of your project – or – how much material you have will determine the size of your project. It’s up to you.

Starting on July 8th, there will be three Zoom sessions of about an hour each (7:00-8:00pm) | July 8th, July 29th, and August 19th.

At each session, there will be some instruction, but mostly a conversation about what we are working on, feedback on what’s working and what isn’t.  In between these sessions, participants will receive weekly updates and prompts, and have the opportunity to ask questions and post/share their progress with the group.
