CraftED: Pilot Parallel Pen Calligraphy with Janet Murata
Workshop Description:
Join Janet Murata for this beginner friendly day of Broad Edge Calligraphy. You will adventure into the playful world of the convenient calligraphy tool the Pilot Parallel Pen. Coveted for its ease of use and indestructible engineering, it has become a beloved and loyal tool in any lettering artists toolkit. You will learn how to care for and use this broad edge pen, create doodles, and the basic strokes and letters of Blackletter style Calligraphy. Students will learn how to blend ink colours creating dynamic letters. Each student will take home their new tool, inks, and instructional handouts to continue their journey of learning at home.
About the Instructor:
Janet Murata is a Calligrapher, artist, and instructor dedicated to preservation and promotion of the handwritten word. Her pediatric nurse-turned artist path carves out her ability to welcome all levels and abilities of artists. Janet connects with each student individually, and offers practical tips and tricks to suit each persons’ unique needs.
Based in Winnipeg, her diversity in Calligraphy scripts spans from the classics to modern styles. Her work featured in publications, media, and used as official and religious documents.
