The Manitoba Crafts Museum and Library (MCML) is dedicated to the study, preservation and understanding of craft and the promotion of the work of craft artists.  We are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic individual to be a Board Member. You don’t need to be a craftsperson to be an effective volunteer – all you need is the passion to help us achieve our organizational goals.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Good communication skills (written and oral)
  • An enthusiasm for craft, art, museums, and libraries

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attends board meetings – typically held the first Wednesday of each month from 6:30 to about 8:00pm.
  • Assist at various special events throughout the year
  • Sit on one committee or has one other special role
  • Participate in the financial and policy management of the organization

When & Where the Work is Done

  • Meetings are held at MCML the first Wednesday of each month, except July and August
  • The time commitment is approx 60-90 minutes per month for meetings, plus extra hours for various special events.

Reporting

  • Board members work collaboratively as a group, with an executive of four board members as leaders.
